Between each fly, you will be chosen from one of two cards that will give you a buff, such as enhancing your firepower, and a pair of debuffs, such as making pawns move faster. On top of that, killing a knight, bishop, rook, or queen allows you to use spirit cards that allow you to act as them for a turn!
Also, you’re able to store the swords of pieces you’ve killed, allowing you to access their movement styles for one round. It’s worth mentioning that trying out new builds across successive play-throughs, especially when you unlock an endless mode, really adds to the replayability.
Since ammo is limited, you need to watch your bullets to avoid getting cornered with an empty shotgun! That’s why the game has some nice UI elements that allow you to see speed, health, and movement patterns. But most importantly, thinking management is a crucial skill to succeed in Shotgun King: The Final Checkmate. This will be great for those times when players are worried about a king and have to get out of a bad situation.
When it comes to the soundtrack, we can say that the repetitive soundtrack adds to the intense gameplay despite the sound effects being basic.
