Diplomacy is Not an Option Early Access Review

If you are surrounded by enemies and if they are running at your castle with swords and arrows, then Diplomacy is Not an OptionGather around builders, soldiers, gravediggers (we will get to that later), and all the citizens you have. Because the war is knocking on your door. An upcoming RTS tower defense game, Diplomacy is Not an Option, is available for early access.

What is Diplomacy is Not an Option?

Diplomacy is Not an Option is an RTS tower defense game with decent difficulty. You will be the lord of a small kingdom where you will be defending your castle from enemies wave after wave. The game is being developed and published by Door 407 and is now available for early access on Steam.

As the developers describe the game, “Experience warfare on an entirely new scale as over 10 thousand enemy units assault your castle walls. Do you have what it takes to save the kingdom? ”

For experienced RTS players, the game will be a fun challenge with its unseen features. If you are new to this kind of stuff, let’s just say play the tutorial first. We might scare you a little, but don’t be afraid. We will give you the beginner’s info to start your ruling.

First of all, the game has two modes: Campaign and Endless Mode. The campaign is where you start in a random landscape and follow the game’s storyline while expanding your kingdom and defending it. In gameplay, you will have a research tree that will allow you to upgrade your technology.

Endless Mode is more like a tower defense with no story and, as you might have guessed, an Endless wave of enemies. This game mode also grants you full access to the tech tree and no limitations on how to defend your castle. You can think of Endless Mode as an experimental ground where you try new strategies.

The gameplay is full of details. You will need to consider nearly everything. Are your resources enough for another war? Will there be rebellion against you? Are your people hungry or even sick?

Seriously, we weren’t joking about the gravedigger part. If you leave dead bodies lying around, you might find yourself in the middle of a plague. You probably won’t want to do that, assuming the enemy soldiers might knock on your door any minute.

Magic is another aspect of this game. You can summon soldiers with great powers or (even better) surprise your enemies with huge fireballs coming from the sky!

If you are struggling, check out community pages to search for solutions from other gamers. Even the developers posted a piece of advice on “How to weaken the final attacking wave in campaign missions.

Tons of strategies and features won’t fit into this review. It’s unbelievable for early access to have this much in it. Yes, the game is not always fun, there are struggles, and sometimes it gets a little repetitive, but it is a tower defense game after all, isn’t it? However, even with all this repetition, we found the “Diplomacy is Not an Option” fun.

You will find yourself saying, “Ok, I will build this and maybe this too later. I’ll play sometime later. ” And after ten or fifteen minutes, “C’mon, move quickly, people! We have tons of things to build! ” So, don’t be late and join the massive cartoon violence.
