Cookie Cutter is an unapologetically gory indie game that will have you chainsaw-murdering anyone in your path. First shown off at Future Games Show Summer Showcase, the 2D hand-drawn Metroidvania sees you playing as Cherry, a revenge-fuelled android who will do anything to track down and kill those who kidnapped her human creator (who also happens to be her lover).
It’s a pretty bloody-looking game that draws influence from the likes of Quentin Tarantino movies, Japanese manga, and H.P. Lovecraft, and the trailer shows you taking on an outrageous cast of characters as you tear through a world full of environmental hazards, baddies, and epic bosses. This is all set to be accompanied by hybrid fighting/ platforming traversal gameplay, a growing map, and a story told over successive areas that are designed to be played over longer gaming sessions.
Cookie Cutter Follows A Badass Android Cherry’s Story
Cherry, a tough and rebellious android with a punk rock attitude, takes center stage as the protagonist of Cookie Cutter. Her mission is to rescue Dr. Shinji Fallon, the creator of her very being and the love of her life, while seeking retribution against those who have wronged her.
The Megastructure serves as the backdrop for the game, a dark and somber world with a striking hand-drawn aesthetic. In this realm, INFONET, a ruthless corporation, rules with an iron fist, transforming human souls into androids known as Denzels to carry out their nefarious plans.
