If you’re a PC gamer, you probably already know that Steam periodically puts up huge discounts on a wide range of games. These sales are a great way to add to your library while not breaking the bank. However, knowing when these sales are happening can be difficult if you don’t keep an eye on the calendar. Thankfully, Steam has released the full schedule of sales and fests for 2023, making it easy to keep track of when you can add to your backlog.
This year, there will be 17 Steam sales and fests, which is four more than last year. This includes the big seasonal sales like the Summer, Autumn, and Winter sales, as well as genre-focused events such as the Puzzle Fest and Visual Novel Fest. Each of these events offers a small window to pick up discounted titles, and while they may not offer as broad an assortment of games as the bigger seasonal sales, they’re worth checking out if you’re looking for something specific.
The year’s first event is the Spring Sale, which will run from March 16 to 23. This is one of the big seasonal sales that will see thousands of titles discounted, including major recent releases like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Dying Light 2.
In addition to these regular seasonal sales, there will also be a number of smaller themed sales throughout the year. These include the upcoming Base Builder Fest, which will focus on city building and other titles that let you create a home for your character; a JRPG Sale in February, which will feature a wide variety of new and old JRPGs; a Racing Sale in June, featuring games like Forza Horizon 3; and the upcoming Next Fest, which will highlight upcoming games with demos.
The Next Fest, which was held between June 19 and 26, 2023, has just ended, and Valve has already confirmed another for October of the same year. These festivals don’t necessarily provide the same discounts as the seasonal and genre-focused sales, but they’re an excellent opportunity to try out a selection of upcoming titles before you decide whether or not to buy them.
This year’s Steam Summer Sale is set to run from June 29 to July 13 and includes a number of big-name games.
Then there’s the Halloween Sale in October, which is always a good time to stock up on horror games. And, of course, there’s the Winter Sale in November, which is a great time to buy those post-holiday bargains.
