After its release on Google Stadia in 2020, Submerged Hidden Depths is out for PC and consoles. The sequel to Submerged offers relaxing gameplay with a (literally) peaceful world. For gamers who like to lie back and enjoy the adventure, Submerged: Hidden Depths is the game for you. Today, we will be reviewing a relaxploration game.
Submerged Hidden Depths is a third-person non-combat adventure with a shy world waiting for you to explore. It was released on March 10, 2022. The game is developed and published by Uppercut Games Pty Ltd. The developers made a game, unlike their other releases, without any action. Experiencing a game like this was interesting. It is rare to find games like Submerged Hidden Depths.
Another example is its storytelling. The game is about two siblings trying to build a new home for themselves while struggling with some internal problems. To clean their new home, they must replace the seeds and save them from corruption. It is pretty straightforward (like any other aspect of the game). Also, don’t worry if you haven’t played the first two titles. You can understand the main story without it. But the storytelling is usually done through music. The soundtrack, while replacing the seeds, or two siblings looking at each other. The characters have their own language. The part of the story is told by them (via subtitles) or in collectible texts in the environment. So, what is this “non-combat” world? Let us explain.
Submerged Hidden Depths is a straightforward game. There are nine places you need to go to, which can be visited in any order. Reaching them is no challenge. You will be traveling by boat, which feels like driving a car in a ghost town. When you reach one of the buildings, you will do light parkour and maybe a puzzle. You might think we are underestimating the gameplay. But that is it. There is no combat, just a challenge to climb through. It is not necessarily a bad thing. Actually, while playing, we thought this could be a game we could recommend to new gamers. Learn some basics and understand how the storytelling (the more you progress, the more you learn about the game) works. We praise the developers for this.
Uppercut Games gave a chance to newcomers to experience an easy title with colorful visuals. And this is the next point we want to stay on. The story and the gameplay have their ups and downs. But visually, there is not much to say then fascinating. The moment you start the game, colors are all around, and the blue ocean welcomes you. The more you look around, the more you feel blessed. Especially, when you play as Miku, flowers blossom with every step you take. The game takes about five hours to finish. You can expand this by finding every collectible.
Submerged Hidden Depths is a beautiful game that is most suitable for newcomers. Or people who are looking for a relaxploration. A veteran or a moderate gamer might get bored when faced with a calm game like Hidden Depths. You can find the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox X ve S Serisi, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and PlayStation 5. On Steam, it has a price tag of $29,99.
