In a world where games are becoming more and more popular to turn beloved movies into full-fledged video game adaptations, a few of our favorites, like Dead by Daylight, Friday the 13th, and Evil Dead, have carried the torch. Well, now the infamous 1974 horror classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is getting its own take in the form of an asymmetrical multiplayer game where players can either be the killers or the victims.
Gun Interactive is bringing the infamous 1974 horror classic to life with a new asymmetrical multiplayer game. In The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, players will have the option to assume the role of a member of the murderous Sawyer family or one of their hapless victims. It’s a deadly game of cat and mouse, with the victims desperately trying to escape their nihilistic pursuers.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Gameplay
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre gameplay is a third-person, asymmetrical horror game that channels the tension and intensity of the 1974 genre classic.
Brought to gruesome life by developer Sumo Digital and publisher Gun Interactive, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game pits players against each other as members of the twisted Sawyer Family or Victims in an attempt to escape from the iconic house laden with meat hooks and bleached skulls.
Players take on the role of one of four Victims, who must use stealth to unearth clues and traps while attempting to find an escape route before they bleed out or are found by a member of the Sawyer Family. Meanwhile, the Sawyer Family is led by the infamous Leatherface and must hunt down and kill all the Victims before they can escape.
The people who have survived have special abilities that make them stronger, faster, and better at hiding. The family members, on the other hand, have different abilities that make them better at fighting, collecting blood, and enduring difficult situations.
In the game, there is also a character named Grandpa Sawyer, who is very old and cannot move around much. The game’s family can benefit if they collect enough blood for him. But this can make it even harder for the people trying to escape from the family. However, the survivors can stop this from happening if they attack Grandpa Sawyer and break the bond between him and the rest of the family. This way, the family won’t get any extra advantages that could help them catch the survivors.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Crossplay
As the developer has confirmed, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre features crossplay, but there are some limitations in place for certain platforms and generations. The game supports crossplay between PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X players. Unfortunately, crossplay is unavailable in the last generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
The horror title The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was released on August 18 for PC via Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One consoles.Â
