On October 26, 2023, Remedy Entertainment released Alan Wake 2, the highly acclaimed action-adventure game. The game serves as a sequel to the original Alan Wake and continues the story from where it left off. In this installment, Alan Wake is desperately trying to escape the darkness that is slowly engulfing his world.
With 13 years having passed since the first Alan Wake came out, the small-town fans explored while trying to find their missing author husband will be repopulated with new and returning characters in this long-awaited sequel.

The titular Alan is voiced by Matthew Porretta, who also plays his on-screen counterpart in Remedy Entertainment’s Control. His partner in the FBI, Saga Anderson, is another playable character, and her story will intertwine with Alan’s. She’s described as an FBI agent with a passion for solving tough cases, and she’s tasked with investigating the Bright Falls killings. Alan Wake fans have a new character to look forward to in the upcoming sequel, Alan Wake 2! Saga Anderson is the new protagonist, and she is an FBI agent who faces many supernatural challenges, just like Alan Wake.
Saga Anderson is played by Melanie Liburd, who is also popular with her works in TV shows like This is Us, Gypsy, and Dark Matter. While this is her first time in the gaming world, she’s no stranger to acting and has a long list of credits to her name!
Alex Casey – Sam Lake and James McCaffrey
Alex Casey is both Saga Anderson’s FBI partner and the fictional detective character that Alan created. Voiced by James McCaffrey, who previously voiced Max Payne, Casey’s character model matches the game’s creative director, Sam Lake. McCaffrey also played Thomas Zane in the first Alan Wake and former Federal Bureau of Control director Zachariah Trench in Control, as well as private investigator protagonist Edward Carnby in Alone in the Dark.
Sheriff Tim Breaker – Shawn Ashmore
Shawn Ashmore plays the sheriff of Bright Falls who disappears into the Dark Place in Alan Wake 2.
He’s known for his roles in X-Men, The Boys, and The Rookie, as well as his work in horror films like The Ruins and Mother’s Day. This casting is a neat callback to an Easter egg in Quantum Break, which also featured Ashmore.
Robert Nightingale – Doug Cockle
In Alan Wake, you start off playing as FBI agent Robert Nightingale who dies and becomes a sinister presence in the game. The actor behind this character is Doug Cockle, known for his role as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher series and as a narrator for various games.
Agent Kiran Estevez – Janina Gavankar
Janina Gavankar is an actress who is increasingly getting involved in video games. In 2023, she will be lending her voice to several game characters, including FBC agent Kiran Estevez in Alan Wake 2, Freddie in Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, Shroud in Redfall, and Tanta Sila in Forspoken. You might also remember her as Iden Versio, the main character in Battlefront 2.
Apart from video games, Gavankar has appeared in many TV shows and movies too. She has portrayed various characters such as Ren Bhullar in Big Sky, Alison Namazi in The Morning Show, Meredith Bose in The Mysteries of Laura, Diana Thomas in Sleepy Hollow, and Luna Garza in True Blood. She has also acted in movies like Blindspotting and The Way Back, where she shared the screen with Ben Affleck.
Ahti – Martti Suosalo
Martti Suosalo reprises his BAFTA-winning role as Ahti, the enigmatic janitor from Control who was first encountered in The Dark Place by Alan Wake.
Suosalo is a Finnish actor who has appeared in international Finnish movies and TV shows, including the Netflix Finnish detective series Deadwind, where he played Poteri. He also played Bilbo Baggins in the 1993 Finnish miniseries adaptation of The Lord of the Rings called Hobitit.
Rose Marigold – Jessica Preddy
Rose Marigold, Saga’s colleague in Alan Wake 2, is voiced by Jessica Preddy. She acted in Forbidden West alongside Nneka Okoye.
In a diner, Saga meets Rose Marigold who has the same uniform as hers but with a new voice. Their first interaction is unsettling, and what’s interesting about Rose’s character in Alan Wake 2 is that there’s a connection to a popular game called Forbidden West.
The voice actress for Rose, Jessica Preddy, also starred in Forbidden West alongside the actress who plays Tammy, Nneka Okoye. Jessica has been part of many other games like Xenoblade Chronicles, where she voiced various characters.
Deputy Mulligan – Mark Heenehan
Mark Heenehan, the voice of Tinky Winky from Teletubbies, is part of the cast of Alan Wake 2. He delivers one of the best quotes in the game. He has also played other characters in shows such as HBO’s Avenue 5 and CNN’s First Ladies series. Additionally, he has lent his voice to video games such as Alien: Isolation and Star Wars: Battlefront 2.
Mr. Door – David Harerwood
Remedy fans will finally get to know more about Mr. Door in Alan Wake 2 after the character was referenced in Control. David Harewood, best known for his roles as David Estes on Homeland and J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter and Hank Henshaw/Cyborg Superman in Supergirl, plays the character.
Harewood has also lent his voice to various video games in the past, including Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, where he played Staff Sergeant Usef Omar, and Battlefield 3, where he played Captain Quinton Cole.
