The looter shooter market is more crowded than ever, so any new releases have to really stand out in order to capture the attention of gamers. One such game to keep an eye on is ARC Raiders, a sci-fi epic from ex-EA and DICE devs. The title was revealed at the 2021 Game Awards, and it features a bold aesthetic and explosive combat.

Embark’s delay of the project allowed them to pivot the game into a player-versus-player extraction shooter.
What Does ARC Raiders Promise For The Players?
ARC Raiders takes place in a world surrounded by a mechanical threat. Players will take on the role of a Raider and earn their keep in the underground colony of Speranza.
There’s a lot of work to do in order to survive, such as finding supplies, building up your arsenal, and fighting ruthless ARC machines and other Raiders.
The team behind ARC Raiders includes ex-DICE devs such as Patrick Soderlund, so there’s some impressive pedigree working on the project. You can also take a look at Embark Studio’s another project called The Finals, which is an upcoming free-to-play, combat-centered first-person-shooter game.
The studio has a number of interesting technical innovations at play here, too. For instance, the developers use machine learning to make characters in-game react uniquely to each threat they face rather than using pre-canned animations.
They also have a system where each hit is recorded and then analyzed, allowing the developers to make tweaks in real-time to improve players’ experience.
When Will ARC Raiders Release?
ARC Raiders was originally shown off at the 2021 Game Awards and received a generally positive reception. However, a recent gameplay leak revealed that the game’s focus had changed significantly.
As we mentioned, the game was scheduled to launch in 2022, but the devs have announced that they are pushing the release back to 2023 to allow them to expand the experience and make sure it delivers on its full potential.

Until that time, you can get in on the ground floor of the game and can sign up for the closed alpha test over at Steam. It is a PC-only test that was started on June 29. If selected, you’ll be able to experience the game before it launches and provide feedback to the developers.

According to the game’s official website, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the Embark Studios-developed title, ARC Raiders, will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam.
