Tango Gameworks surprised everyone at the Xbox Developer Direct with Hi-Fi Rush, an energizing rhythm-based action game that ties the world, characters, and combat to music. It’s a bold step for the Japanese developer, who’s typically renowned for horror titles such as The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo.
But it really shines in the way it makes it accessible to players who may not be so musically inclined. Animations will still land in time if the player is slightly off-rhythm, while a visual metronome helps keep track of tempo as well.
What is Hi-Fi Rush?
Hi-Fi Rush is a top-quality Xbox exclusive developed by Tango Gameworks. Known for titles like The Evil Within and Ghostwire Tokyo, Tango has taken a break from its horror-focused oeuvre to present a unique melding of rhythm action and stylish action gameplay in Hi-Fi Rush.
The game features a character named Chai, who can sense the world’s rhythm and uses it to fight an evil robotics enhancement megacorp in a raucous, creatively crafted battle for survival. It combines several high-powered combat systems that rely on rhythm to keep players in sync – combo finishers, dodges, different assist characters that bring their weapons into the fray, and more.
There are also several special abilities, including grapple hooks and parry and counter systems. All of these are synchronized to the music. It is incredibly satisfying to string movement and attacks together to keep that beat going.
On What Platform Hi-Fi Rush Available?
Just like we mentioned in the early lines of our article, Hi-Fi Rush is already available for Xbox platforms. You can run Hi-Fi Rush with Xbox Series X and Series S, PC, or Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Hi-Fi Rush is a great example of what the Xbox One has been doing lately – releasing first-party games with surprising levels of creativity and passion that can’t be found elsewhere in the gaming industry. It’s a refreshing change from the plethora of license bait, remakes, and sequels that have taken over the Xbox ecosystem in the past six months.
Hi-Fi Rush Xbox Game Pass (XGP)
One of the best things about Hi-Fi Rush is that it’s also coming to Xbox Game Pass. Those who take care of their gaming needs with the Xbox Game Pass platform can now enjoy the game’s vibes.
Xbox Game Pass has been quite a choice for those looking for the easiest way to try the latest game titles. So, it is also the cheapest way to enjoy Hi-Fi Rush if you can’t afford to buy the game forever.
