The new subscription tier Xbox Game Pass Core, which was launched on September 14, costs $9.99 monthly or $59.99 yearly and will give players access to Xbox‘s advanced multiplayer network, a select collection of over 25 games to play with friends around the world.
As you know, Microsoft replaced Xbox Live Gold and Games with Gold subscription services with a new Game Pass tier called Core. The company says that existing Xbox Live Gold members will automatically transition to Game Pass Core with no price change and immediate access to the new catalog. They’ll also retain any Xbox 360 games they redeemed through Xbox Games with Gold.
Plus, rebranded as Game Pass Core, the subscription service is not offering the full Xbox Game Pass library, which remains exclusive to console and PC users with the more expensive Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offering. Rather, Microsoft is leveraging the growing catalog of older games it owns now, thanks to Zenimax (Bethesda) and its pending acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Microsoft’s new subscription, Xbox Game Pass Core, adds new titles to the 25 games collection 2 or 3 times a year.
